SPEED NIGGS - Sanitary Facility Interview 1990 1989 was an important year for the Speed Niggs. First their debut album 'Boston Beigel Yeah!!' released and they opened the european shows for the Das Damen 1989 tour.. Afterwards they went straight back into the studio to record the second album 'Another Valley On The Long Decline'. At this point in time, the only filmed interview with Jan Beigel, Mark Kowarsch and Christopher Uhe was made in early 1990 (almost 35 years ago!) for a TV report of german station Tele 5. The interview was filmed in the toilets of the 'Alte Pauline' in Detmold, where the Speed Niggs' practice room was also located. The indie-rock-post-punk-trio Speed Niggs started blowing the world of Rock’n’Roll away back in 1989 consisting of Mark Kowarsch, Jan Beigel and Christopher Uhe. The band’s 8-track debut album 'Boston Beigel Yeah!!' goes very well immediately which was also due to the outstanding artwork by US artist Joe Sacco. 'Boston Beigel Yeah!!' was 'Album of the Month' in SPEX magazine, whose readers later voted the band 'Best Newcomer 1989' in an end of year poll and they joined SST Records artist Das Damen from New York City on their 1989 tour all over Europe. Their second album 'Another Valley On The Long Decline' on 16-track features the track Paint It Sweet with Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) on vocals, a track which Dando referred as ‚one of the best tracks I’ve ever worked on‘. Following the release of their third album '667 – Right Between The Dicks' and a bunch of EPs, singles and compilation-tracks on vinyl, CD and cassettes worldwide, the band split in 1994.
